President Arroyo approves Salary Standardization Law

President Gloria Arroyo signed Wednesday the Salary Standardization Law (SSL) III that is expected uplift the condition of country’s government employees and boost the nation’s economy.

Congress approved Joint Reso-lution 26, a Malacañang-certified measure principally authored by Sen. Edgardo Angara that would upgrade the compensation of government employees in low-level up to top positions effective July 1.

The joint resolution has sought to correct the distortions and inconsistencies in the present compensation system, taking into account the principle of equal pay for work of equal value in proposing a performance-based scheme to reward exemplary civil servants.

Public Approval For Us At DepEd Highest

An appreciative public has let its sentiments known – it recently gave us, the Department of Education, an approval rating that speaks well of the policy reforms that have resulted in tangible, positive results in public education.

The public approval is manifested in the result of the July 2008 Ulat ng Bayan survey of Pulse Asia, which put DepEd among the top three government agencies that garnered the highest ratings.

DepED 11 shows improvement in its NAT Results

The recently released NAT results of DepED Region 11 for School Year (SY) 2007-2008 for Grade VI and Second Year showed an increase of the mean percentage score (MPS) as compared to the MPS in SY 2006-2007, with the elementary level surpassing the regional target.

Barely three years of existence is very short to prove to all how workable the division is. But for us, despite the meager resources, the absence of vehicle for transportation, the insufficient funds and the number of computer sets, the demands and challenges to quality education we’re facing, these did not stop us from doing our tasks. We are able to address and cater the needs of the clientele. These things would not have been achieved without the support of the stakeholders. They are the inspiration of the Interim Division to make us survive and emerge triumphantly in some programs/ projects and activities participated in national and regional levels.
